Modera API Terms & Privacy

These terms and this privacy notice apply to the Modera API provided by GKG Studios ("Modera," "we," or "us") through the Muse connector. The API uses selected clothing details to rank outfit combinations and returns suggestions to Muse.

This page covers the API integration. The Modera iOS app is covered by its separate privacy policy. Muse and any photo services you connect to Muse have their own terms, privacy policies, and permission controls.

Terms of use

1. Using the connector

By connecting to or using the Modera API, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not connect or use it. You must be at least 13, meet Muse's eligibility requirements, and have any consent required by the laws that apply to you.

You may use the API through an authorized connector for lawful wardrobe and styling purposes. Access currently operates as a limited pilot and may require an invitation or approval. An invitation does not guarantee ongoing access or availability.

2. Your content and permissions

You retain your rights in the information you provide. You give us permission to process the clothing details and preferences sent with your requests to provide the API service. You are responsible for having the right to use that information and for reviewing clothing details and suggestions for accuracy.

Authorizing Modera does not give it access to your camera roll, social accounts, Muse conversations, or Modera iOS account. Photo imports and any linked-source permissions are managed separately in Muse.

3. Responsible use

Do not bypass authentication or usage limits, share connection credentials, access another person's data without permission, interfere with the service, or use it unlawfully. Send only the supported clothing and styling fields. Do not submit photos, conversations, contact details, precise location, or other unnecessary personal information to the API.

4. Suggestions and third-party services

Outfit suggestions are informational and may be incomplete or unsuitable for your needs. They do not guarantee fit, comfort, weather protection, or compliance with a dress code. Use your judgment before relying on a suggestion or making a purchase.

Muse controls its own photo analysis, image editing, storage, and presentation of results. We do not control the availability or operation of Muse or other services you use with it.

5. Availability and ending access

We may change the API, apply usage limits, or suspend or end access for security, misuse, operational reasons, or the end of the pilot. You may stop using the API at any time and revoke your connection. Ending API access does not automatically delete information stored in Muse.

6. Disclaimers and liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the API is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of uninterrupted availability, accuracy, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose. To the extent permitted by law, GKG Studios is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the API. These terms do not exclude liability or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Privacy notice

What the API receives

For an outfit request, Muse sends a limited set of clothing details, such as garment category, item type, colors, material, fit, length, pattern, texture, and formality. Requests use temporary item labels instead of your saved wardrobe item IDs. They can also include your selected styling mode, occasion, style preferences, required or excluded items, and optional temperature, weather conditions, and the time of the weather observation. Weather context does not include your location.

The API also receives a request identifier and connection credentials. Its supported request format does not accept photographs, image links, local file paths, names, email addresses, social account IDs, captions, conversation text, or saved outfit history.

How information is used

We use request data to select and rank outfit combinations and return results to Muse. The current API runs Modera's outfit rules without sending those requests to an external AI or image-generation provider. We do not use API wardrobe requests to train AI models, sell them, or use them for advertising.

We use connection records and limited diagnostics to authorize access, enforce usage limits, prevent abuse, and maintain reliability. If you contact support, we use your email address and the information you choose to provide to respond and address your request.

What is stored and for how long

  • Outfit requests and results. Clothing details, styling context, and recommendations are processed in memory for the request. The API does not save them to its database, application logs, or a wardrobe profile.
  • Connection and security records. We store connector registration details, permitted callback addresses, installation identifiers, authorization status, hashed credentials, expiry times, and usage-limit counters in Google Cloud Firestore. Access tokens currently expire after 15 minutes; client registrations and installations expire after 90 days. Expired records are eligible for automatic cleanup, which is not instantaneous. Revocation disables access but does not immediately erase every operational record.
  • Diagnostics and support. Application logs record the operation type, response status, and processing time, without request contents or credentials. Operational logs and support correspondence may be retained as needed for troubleshooting, security, legal obligations, and resolving requests. Their retention is separate from credential expiry.

Service providers and sharing

Google Cloud hosts the API and stores its operational records. Hosting providers necessarily process network information, such as IP addresses, to deliver and protect the service. Data may be processed in the United States or other countries where our providers operate. We return outfit results to the Muse connection that requested them.

We may disclose limited operational or support information when required by law or where necessary to investigate abuse and protect rights, security, or safety. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Muse's processing of your photos, chats, wardrobe files, and returned suggestions is governed by Muse's own policies. The API's retention practices do not describe how long Muse or a linked photo service keeps information.

Cookies, website analytics, and security

The connection authorization page uses a temporary security cookie to complete sign-in safely. It expires after 10 minutes and is cleared when authorization completes. This is not an advertising cookie. The modera.fyi website uses Vercel Web Analytics for page usage; website analytics are separate from outfit API requests.

The API uses HTTPS, scoped authorization, expiring tokens, and hashed credential storage. These measures reduce risk but cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and privacy rights

  • Control requests. Choose the clothing and styling context you use in Muse, and correct inaccurate details there.
  • Revoke access.Use Muse's connection controls to disconnect Modera, or contact us to request revocation. Once the API connection is revoked, its credentials can no longer authorize outfit requests.
  • Manage Muse data separately.Use Muse's available controls or support to manage or delete photos, wardrobe files, and conversations. Disconnecting Modera or archiving a wardrobe item is not a deletion request.
  • Make a privacy request. Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete personal information, restrict or object to processing, or appeal a decision. Contact us to exercise applicable rights or raise a concern. You may also contact your local privacy regulator.

We may need to verify your authority over a connection before acting on a request. Because the API does not maintain a copy of your wardrobe, we cannot export or delete Muse-held content on your behalf. Information required for security or legal obligations may be retained where applicable law permits.

Children's privacy

The API is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their personal information. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information to the API so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

Changes to these terms or this notice

We may update this page as the service changes and will revise the effective date above. For material changes, we will provide additional notice and obtain consent where required by law. If you do not agree to updated terms, stop using the API and revoke your connection.
